Chapter Activity: Town Day Participation

Many communities have at least one town day every year. These town-wide events usually involve children’s games, food and craft vendors, and often offer the opportunity for local non-profit groups to have a booth to distribute information about their group and even to sell items as a fundraiser. These occasions are great venues for publicity with limited effort.

· Have brochures and fact sheets about your chapter to distribute.

· Have a great sign or banner that attracts attention.

· Sell things – Dollars for Scholars products or other items such as hats, t-shirts, etc. that feature the community and/or the chapter.

· Be prepared to accept donations – for cash gifts, be sure to get the name and address of each donor so that you can follow up with a formal acknowledgement.

· Collect names, addresses, and phone numbers of residents who visit the booth and might be interested in volunteering for the chapter.
